HEMP AND TOW GRADINGS

There was a large increase in the gradings of hemp last month compared with those fc*r April, 1935. Tow showed a decrease. The figures compare as follow; — April, April .1935 1936 Inc. Of the hemp graded last month, 134 bales were classed as good fair, 1181 bales high fair, 920 bales low fair, 453 b'ales common, 353 bales were rejected, and 15 bales condemned. Wellington graded 1300 ‘ / ’.es, Auckland 990 bales. Bluff 598 bales, Pictcu 107 bales and Blenheim 61 bales. Of the two graded last month 43 bales were classed firs grade, 55 bales second grade, 12 bales third grade and two bales were condemned. Bluff graded 112 bales, Auckland 112 bales, Wellington 63 bales aud Picton 38 bales.
