Decrease in Sterling Exchange NOTE ISSUE HIGHER I ■ | The weekly statement of assets and /liabilities of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand as at the close of business on Monday, May 4, is as follows: I Liabilities
Proportion of reserve (No. 7 less No. 5) to notes and other demand liabilities, 97.97 per cent., compared 'with. 98.232 per cent, on April 27. A decrease of 309,155 brings the total of sterling exchange down to £23,915,44. Gold remains unchanged at £2 801.733. Sbsidiary coin totals £203,195. a reduction of £2595. Investments at £1.815,387 show a small de crease of £207. Other assets have increased bv £45,698 to a total of £112,P 34. The note issue totals £10,257,463, an increase for a week of £17,216. Demand liabilities to the State total £B,476.857, a decrease of £107,407. A reduction of £174.926 in trading banks’ call deposits brings that item down to £8,409,673. Other demand liabilities total £126,509, an increase of £23,114. Other liabilities at £77,290, show a decrease of £24,257. The statement balances at £28,847.793 10s sd, a decrease of £266,259 6s sd.
