When Andrews was a colt, making his way, he played one or two tri”‘l match innings in superlative style, his driving, cutting and hocking recalling Reginald Duff at his top. It foreshadowed bis subsequent career in first-class cricket. On his first Lour in England in .1921 he just missed the century twice in t'>p tests, having to be content with nineties. His 224 for New JSouth Wales against England is the highest in that series and he also made 247 against >South Australia. In the Sheffield Shield series Andrews scored 3072 runs, at an average of 42 per innings. In his best years his cricket was redolent of the ideal in batting and fieldiojf.
