ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS SOCIAL AND DANCE I On Wednesday evening the Druids* Hall was en fete, the occasion being the fourth anniversary social and dan\:e of the Palais de Danse. -There was an attendance of about. 400, and all enjoyed the special programme of oldtime and modern dances interspersed with novelty items. Mr Gilroy extended a hearty welcome to both old and new patrons and expressed the hope that the Palais de Danse would enjoy a fair share of their patronage ■dirring the ensuing year. I A special feature of the occasion was jthe large four-tiered bH‘ ! -hday cake, decorated in pale gold. Just after 9 pm. Mrs Bert Gilroy performed the | ceremony of cutting the rake. I As well as a dance programme, several attractive revue turns helped to make the evening a suciessfu! one. j George Allen and Company were presented by Leonard F. Liley in a cameo revue. The following were the artists: “Sweetie” Griffin, Audrey Thomas and Pat White (dim ballet); Master Sheehy (tap); Audrey Thomas (Canadian capers); the Duo Boys (American tap); Pat White (syncopated clogs); Ivy Mikhelson (special tap); Sybil Liley (“Isle of Capri”); pupils of the ■George Allen School of Dancing. Mouth I organ virtuosocs (“Maori Melody,” I “ Shopman e.s for Ever,” “Cheek to Cheek” and “Love”). “.Anita and I Pat” (humorous character sketch); Eileen Sanderson (humorous* sketch) pupils of Edna Watts Studio of Elocution. Pat. Davis (“Who Made Little Boy Blue”) pupil Hunter-Hughes Johnson School of Dancing. The musical director was Mr Fred Stokes. The Palais Danse Band provided the music for dancing. Monte Carlo dances were won by Miss Weeks and Mr I. Shearer, Mrs Wadsworth and Mr J. Trott, Miss Clark and. Mr Johnston,

, Aliss Young and Mr Gray, Miss Scott and Mr Graham. The winners of the spot fox-trot were Miss Underwood and Air Watson, Miss Clark and Mr J. Wade.
