MUSIC EXAMINERS

TRINITY COLLEGE The Board of Trinity College of Alusic (London) has announced as its examiners for New Zealand this year Air. Adolph Alarm, A.R.C.AL (pianoforte, organ, violin and singing), and Air. Paul Edmonds (elocution). Mr. Alami is known to New Zealand teachers and students having conducted examinations in the Dominion before. He received his musical training in his native town of Eastbourne and, under Dr. Otto Neitzel, in Cologne. Besides the piano and organ, his studies included the violin, violincello and clarinet, and he has had a wide practical experience of vocal technique, both solo and choral, as teacher and conductor. In addition to a busy teaching career, he has travelled extensively as a solo and chamber music pianist, and he appeared in this capacity at some of the most important concerts in London and the provinces. His published compositions include, in addition to many songs, chamber music in various forms—a sunata for violin and pianoforte, a trio, and a for two violins—and a variety of ‘pianoforte pieces. Air. Alarm is equally well known as a lecturer and writer on musical, elocutionary and vocal subjects. Mr. Edmonds received his education at Oundle Schoo], studied elocution with Charles Fry, in London, and singing under various masters in London and Paris. He is well known as a lecturer in elocution and other sub jects. During the last few years he has lectured to many English public schools, including Eton and Harrow, and to principal English literary societies., and he also has visited the United States and -Canada in this capacity AVhen a prisoner in Asia Alinor for two and a-half years, following the surrender of Kut, he conducted a choir and produced pA.tys. Afr. Edmonds is the author of “Peacocks and Pagodas,” and “To the Land of the Eagle,” and the composer of several popular song hooks.
