MARGOT Goes Shopping

Flowers fcr Mother’s Day. Mother will be proud and glad to be remembered on Mother’s Day, and particularly so if the gift is a perfect harmony of flowers arranged in a box or basket. They are especially appropriate for such an occasion. Exquisite presentation boxes and baskets of flowers, or choice blooms with the addition of fruit, chocolates or a book may he ordered at the Farm Equipment Co., Maria Place. Frocks in Attractive Styles. I have seen at “Rosaline’s” Frock Shop some delightful new frocks for both day and evening wear, also jumper suits. As well as those in lovely colours for evening, including some in silver threaded materials, there is a beautiful selection of white frocks, one in niched taffeta being most effective. Dinner gowns include beautiful velvets, blistered and grained cloques, 1 also rich shot taffets. I i BAND OF HOPE The Wanganui East Band of Hope held iis monthly meeting op Tuesday evening, when Mrs. Day presided over a good attendance of members and friends. Captain Vaery, of the Wellington Salvation Army, presided at the piano. After the opening hymn and prayer members repeated the company rule, rally and salute. The following programme was given by members of Alt Saints’ Sunday School: Pianoforte solo. Bruce Hillier; | recitation, Mrs. Workman; solo with own accompaniment, Betty Hocking; recitations. Helen Workman, Pat Healey and Winnie Simpson; trio, Betty Hocking, Joan Breed and Lillian Morgan; recitation, Ngaire Moore; solo, Winnie Simpson. In her address Mrs. Wickham referred to the term “Band of Hope” as implying the “hope” for all the world if each one strove to carry the torch of temperance, and to learn the power of self-control in all the little things of life. Seven new members were initiated. The Baptist Sunday School scholars will provide the programme at the May meeting, when Mr. Gregory will give the address.
