NEW ZEALAND-BRED TILLIES. Premiere, a New Zealand-bred filly, won a race at Goodwood, West Australia, recently. The race was the first two-year-old event to be put on by a proprietary club in West Australia this season, and it attracted a very large field, mostly newcomers. Premiere, by Chief Ruler from the Thespian—Drax mare Drama, a half-sister to Spiral, is owned by IDr. D. A. Quinlan, on whose behalf she was bought by Mr. E. Meares for 260 guineas at last year's jTrentham sales. At the same sale Mr. Meares bought for himself the Night Raid filly Winbyie, a successful performer in Perth this season.
