“FOLLOW THE FLEET”
POPULAR DANCERS AGAIN In “Follow the Fleet ’commencing next Saturday at the Plaza Theatre, the popular Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers are seen in another of their successful partnerships. Astaire is quite transformed as the spare little marine Bake Baker whose whole-time job while ashore is to secure a better position for his sweetheart Sherrv (Ginger Rogers >, who is a dancer at “Paradise/' a second-rate restaurant. His efforts to “make things right' 7 for her generally eml in the most humourous situations. Sherry and Connie Martin (Harriet Hillyard are the daughters of an old sea captain, and Connie, who is a music teacher, has an ambition to salvage her father's old ship and to see her husband at the wheel. The prospective husband is Randolph Scott. Bake's particular chum, to whom marriage is something to be avoided. The piece is packed with rollicking numbers, and an astonishing number is Astaire’s solo, a seven-minute tap routine, in which he is accompanied by twenty-four sailors.
