WOMEN’S INSTITUTE. The president, Mrs. A. K. Drew, presided over the monthly meeting of the bandon Women\s Institute. l Mrs. Drew referred to the death ol Mrs. G. Burrowes, and as a mark ot respect members stood in silence. The president extended a welcome to the visitors, Mis. Will, Miss Will, Rongotea, Mr... Olliver, Woodville, Jones, Feilding and Miss M. Francis, Kakahi. It was decided to suggest to the New Zealand Federation of Institutes that July should be the month for the annual conference to be held at Dunedin. Mrs\ J. It. Bowater presented her report on .the annual council meeting held in Palmerston North. Mrs. W. J. Ito wan reported on the conference sue had attended in Feilding wih reference to the Sarah Anne Rhodes Scholarship, and it was decided that the Sanson Institute take three courses. A vote of thanks was accorded the delegates. Mrs. Drew thanked the committee and members for assisting to make the recent flower show sucn a n'ucces:-. Il was decided that the arts and crafts evening should commence next Wednesday. A very interesting demonstration on smocking was given by the prcsidei-t. Mi>s McFarlane and Mis* Peattie entertained with various games. The roiupctition to represent a town in the North Island was won by Miss A. Cor rigan. A competition ‘‘Parts of the Bov” was won by Miss L. Gedye. After the roll call, a number of riddles were given, which caused much amusement. Mesdames Will and Olliver judged the vase of flowers, results being: — Seniors, Mrs, -I. C. Fagan 1, Mrs. C York 2, Mrs. J. W. Masters juniors, Miss P. Williams 1, Miss J. Kiipat’ick 2, Miss G. Adams 3. PLUNKET SOCIETY The ordinary meeting of the Sanden sub-brunch of the Plunket Society was ncld in the Town Hall on Wednesday, when the president, Airs. Rex JlcKelvie. presided over a good attendance. The visitin'. nurse reported that she had attended one new case, visited six homes. The visitors to rooms were 15, and 11 babies and 9 older children were taken. The nurse reported that satisfactory progress had been made by the babies and toddlers attending the Plunket rooms. The branch discussed the question ot organising a concert to assist the Feilding Society's building fund and it was resolved to approach Mis. I. S. Collier with the request that she arrange a concert party some time in June.
