BADMINTON CLUB Since the Waverly Badminton Club has been formed it has been found that there are too many members for the two courts available, and to defray expenses of a further court a very successful Yankee tournament was held on Alonday night. The club hac affiliated with the Taranaki Association and is intending, if possible, io compete in the Spalding Shield competition, resulting in keen competition in the ’adder matches.. TENNIS Aleeting of the Waverly 1 awn Tennis Club Committee was held on Munday evening to discuss arrangements tor the annual ball. EUCHRE PARTY The weekly euchre parly in aid of the Waverly Fire Brigade was held in the supper room of the town hall on Alonday evening. There was a good attendance and a very enjoyable evening was spent, the prize winners being Airs. Haycock and W. Boyd. FARMERS’ UNION A meeting of the Wavcrlcy branch of the Farmers’ Union was held on Alonday evening, Air. A. L. Elmslie presiding over a large attendance of members. The annual report and balance sheet were presented by the secretary. The balance sheet showed a most favourable financial position. The election of officers resulted: president, Air. A. L. Fitzgibbon who for some time has been on the staff of the Waverly branch of the Farmers’ Co-operative Association has received notice of his transfer to Kaponga. His successor will be Air. Richards of Stratford. TWENTY-FIRST BIRTHDAY PARTY Air. and Mrs. C. E. Dalhson gave a danbe at their home on Thursday night in honour of Aliss Ruby Dallison, the occasion being her twenty-fiits birthday. Airs. Dallson to receive her guests wore a black lace and mariete frock and the guests of honour chose a red and black checked hailstone muslin frock. Pride of place upon the supper table was the beautiful birthday cake with its 21 candles, which was cut by the guest of honour and the usual toast honoured. Those present were Air. and Airs. J. H.
