Elignt-Lieuftenant I. Keith, pilot-in-structor to the Western Federated (N. 1. Flying Club, arrived in Wanganui yesterday and will cariv out training operations at the Wanganui Airport during the next two weeks. Alessrs C. J. B. Norwood (president), J. T. Alartin (vice-president), and D. IJ. APcGowan, are to be the official delegates of the Wellington Chamber of Commerce to the conference of the Federation of the Chambers of Commerce of the British Empire in Wellington in October. Air J. D. Crowley, president of the ! Wanganui Garrison Band and Citizens’ ! Committee, referred at last uight’s i meeting to the death of Air D. McFarj lane, who for many years was president of the committee. Air Crowley spoke of the keen interest which Air AlcFarlane had always taken in the band and said his loss would be keenly felt. He had always helped the band in every way possible. A motion of sympathy with the relatives was carried. Air W. B. Steel, Dunedin, accompanied by Airs Steel, has left on the first stage of a trip to Great Britain. The primary object of the tri-p is to attend the bicentenary meeting of the Gra.nd Lodge of Scotland, which historic gathering he will attend as the representative of the Scottish Freemasons of New Zealand South. While a<t Horne Air Steel, on behalf of the United Ancient Order of Druids, will make t'l'Ose inquiry into the working of the National Health Insurance scheme worked through the friendly societies at Home in order to ~e prepared for the introduction of such an insurance in New Zealand. He will be joined by his daughter, Miss Steel, from the special school al Otekaike, who will visit similar uirtitutions in Great Britain.
