’ Mr. and Mrs. Colin-White, Havelock ’ North, have been visiting Wanganui. Mr. and Mrs. George Manning are Dunedin visitors to Wanganui. Mrs. S. Phillips returned to Wanga- ’ nui early in the week, after spending ten days at Napier. Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Hall have returned to Wanganui after a motor tour of the North Island. Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Fox were Wellington visitors to Wanganui this week. Mrs. W. F. Morrison is a Wanganui visitor to Napier, where she is the guest of Madame Margaret Mercer. Mrs. C. L. Lovegrove, of Castlecliff, is visiting Hamilton for a few weeks and is taying with her sister, Mrs. C. W. Jewell. Miss Allan, of the Paeroa Dental Clinic, will spend her vacation in Wanganui with her mother, Mrs. D. T. Allan, Lifliton Street. Mrs. W. Day, senior, who left Wanganui two years ago, has again taken up residence in the city. Mrs. Day was secretary of the Unemployed Women’s Association, and is an officer iu the St. John Ambulance. Miss Dulcie Thomas, who has been visiting her sister in Suva, and making a tour of New Zealand, is staying with Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Burton, Gonville. Mrs. Moore Hunter, Mr. and Mrs. Alec Hunter, of Hawera, Mrs. Armstrong and Mr. and Mrs. McMillan, of Wellington, are visitors to Wanganui for the Alexander—Bly th wedding. Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Alexander, Mr. 1 and Mrs. G. H. Alexander, and the Misses Alexander, of Waverley, Mr. and Mrs. F. Train, Waitotara, Mr. and Mrs. J. Alexander and Mr. and Mrs. H. Birch, of Maxwell, will be visitors to Wanganui for the Alexander —Blyth wedding, which takes place to-day. Miss Nancy Jobson, headmistress of the Hopewood House finishing school at Darling Point, Sydney, will visit New Zealand this month. It is Miss Jobson’s intention to spend some time with friends in Invercargill where, some years ago. she taught. Miss Jobson was the first headmistress of Queen Margaret College iu Wellington. Until she established Hopewood House, now Sydney’s only finishing school, she was head of the Presbyterian Ladies’ College at Pymble, near Sydney. Miss Jobson is one of the leading figures in the Australian educational world. Miss Mary Doolan, the well-known and popular teacher of elocution in Wanganui, has accepted an appointment a? speech training mistress at Wellesley College, Wellington, and will be leaving in about two weeks’ time for the Capital City. Miss Doolan, who has a pleasing personality, has been enthusiastic, in everything connected with elocution and dramatic art and had been associated with the Repertory Theatre Society, both as a producer and actress. She is a member of the Sacred Heart Convent Old Girls’ Association am] St. Mary’s Dramatic Circle, and has helped considerably in promoting plays for charitable objects, giving a series of ■plays in aid of the Home of Compassion. Miss Doolan took part in the ‘drama festival held in Wanganui under the auspices of the British Drama League and gained a B certificate. For five years Miss Doolan has gained the ■highest marks in the examination held in connection with the Trinity College and is the only person in Wanganui to 1 hold the letters A.T.C.L. and L.T.C.L. in elocution. Her numerous friends 'will wish her every success in her new appointment. FAREWELL PARTIES Mrs. Wilberfoss, who leaves with her children on Friday for Wellington, on the first stage of her journey to England, has been the guest of honour at numerous farewell tea and luncheon parties. Among recent hostesses have been Mesdames A. H. Boyes. J. Davis, H. Keesing, F. Hutchison, W. Russell and Alan Millward. Mrs. Wilberfoss is at present the guest of Mrs. H. Af. Keesing, Campbel] Street.
