Mr. E. A. Wallace, of the Aramoho Post Office staff, has been promoted to the transport division of the General Post Office, Wellington, and leaves on Friday to take up his new position. Councillors J. Siddells and J. J Scott were appointed by the Wanganui City Council last night to represent it at tomorrow night’s public meeting called for the purpose of furthering the interests of the children’s health camp. Tributes to the citizenship of the late Mr David McFarlane were paid at the City Council meeting last night by the Mayor of Wanganui (Mr W. J. Rogers). Special reference was made to Mr McFarlane’s work in placing a number of boys on farms during the acuteness of the depression and to his kindly interest in the lads so placed. The council stood in silence to mark the adoption of a motion of condolence with Mrs McFarlane and her family.
