According Io one farmer the stock was in exceptionally line condition and reliecmd creditably on the district’s pastures. Competition in these sections was exceptionally keen and the task of toe juoges in allocating une prizes was an onerous one. 'i ney repicsciiied some of t ue best, dairying herds of the South Taranaki distiicc and weie exhibited in particularly hue condition. l’he aoi.'-e entries were wed up to last year and came from all ox er the province, and as far distant as Alidhurst and Otaki. On tne amusement side, the number of sideshows was twice as great as lust year and provided att i actions for b<*th young and old. •Consideiaoie interest was taken in 1 h-e ring all raciions, in which the competition was keen. ’Pae programme of ring events was a comprehensive one for a small show, and tne jumping was of a high standard, 'l’he home i uitstries classes (Lew good entries, the number being well up to th? figure for last year’s snow. Naturally this section was a popular one with the women patrons of the show and tne exhibit,s of needlework, knitting, cocking, fruit, and vegetables attracted a considerable anio-unt ot interest throughout the day. A feature of the afternoon was the trotting races, two of which were handicap events, and the third over one and a-unlf miles for the Waverley A. and P. Cup. Altnough the sky was overcast throughout tLe day. the weather was fine and warm.
