Mr. and Mrs. L. T. Coleman, of Marton, have been visiting Christchurch. Miss Joan gladden, who has been visiting Wanganui, has returned io New Plymouth. Mrs. A. Walker, Wanganui East, has returned from a visit to Auckland. Mrs. Taylor-Young and Mrs. W. H. Taylor-Young, are Auckland visitors to Wanganui. Miss M. Strouts, of Christchurch, is visiting Wanganui as the guest of her sister, Mrs. A. G. Mackay. Mr. and Mrs. Russell Scoullar have returned to Wanganui from a motor tour to Gisborne. Mr. and Mrs. David Gillies, Auckland, are visiting Wanganui. Mrs. J. H. Hindmarsh, who has been staying with her mother, Mrs. R. Neumann, ‘ ‘ Netherleigh, ’ ’ Wanganui East, has returned to Wellington. Mrs. D. I). McLean, and Miss McLean, "Tvakatahi, were visitors to Wan-
ganui this week. Airs. C. C. Smith has returned tn her home in Gonvillc after a visit, io Auckland. Airs. W. Kennedy, Wanganui, is a visitor to Wellington. Miss Patricia Ryan, Wellington, is staying with Airs, P. A. O’Neill, Ingestre Street. Mrs. R. Heard, Auskland, who has been visiting New Plymouth, is spending a few days in Wanganui before returning north. Miss Emily Nicholson, who has been in Wanganui for several months, returned to her home in New Plymouth last week-end. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Warburton, Napier, are visiting Wanganui. Mrs. D. T. Allen, Li flit on Street, is visiting Auckland. Captain and Mrs. Alp have returned to Wanganui after spending a holiday at Christchurch and Timaru. Airs. L. Duigan and her daughter. Miss Esther Duigan. of Lower Hutt, Wellington, spent the week-end in Wanganui. Miss J. Bankier Young has been appointed a voluntary organiser for th? Wanganui District Federation of Women’s Institutes. 4Mr. and Mrs. T. L. Sperring, Gonville, will motor to Wellington to-nior-rew, accompanied by their guest, Afiss E. Moore, of Haw era, who leaves by the Monowai on Friday on a visit to England. Visitors to the Chateau Tongariro last week included Mr. and Airs. F. J. Nancarrow, and Mr. and Mrs. W. Glenn, of Wanganui, and tho Misses Wilson, of Bulls. Afiss Helen Twelvetrees, the wellknown Hollywood film star, who has been in Australia for the last eight weeks in making an Australian film, passed through Auckland recently on her return to the United States. Afiss Twelvetrees said she was confident she had made a good picture and she was taking with her a sincere admiration for Australia and Australians. She regretted that she could not stay longer to see more of New Zealand.
Miss Roche, who has been visiting Taumarunui and Wellington, returned to Wanganui yesterday.
Afiss Winifred Lawson, an English artist, who makes her first New Zealand appearance with the Gilbert ami Sullivan Opera Company, has sung principal roles for the D’Oyly Carte Company for several consecutive years. Her parts include Yum-Yum in “The Mikado,” Elsie Maynard in “The Yeomen of the Guard,” and Casilda in “The Gondoliers.” Afiss Lawson was a concert singer and appeared at Queen’s Hall.
