PARAPARA SPORTS
A SUCCESSFUL DAY MEETING AT ORE ORE. The Parapara Sports Club held its ninth annual gathering on Mr. R. Lilburn’s property at Ore Ore on Wednesday, March 4. The weather was ideal for the occasion, an entertaining programme being carried out. In spite of a slightly decreased attendance it was a most successful function. Much praise is due to the officials who worked well together, the programme being run off in record time. Mr. J. R. Hunter acted as judge, and his decisions on the horse events were very popular . The main item of the day, the open jump, was won by a lady competitor. Miss J. Ingram, of Raetihi. The horse events were most interesting and therp was keen competition. The judge, commenting, said the jumping was good, but owing to lack of space, the jumps were rather cramped and the better horses could not distinguish themselves. A pillow fight provided much laughter and amusement for the spectators. Refreshments were provided by the club and dispensed at a very reasonable price. The committee passed a vote of thanks to all those who helped to make the meeting a success, especially mentioning Mr. Hunter for his very able assistance, and Mr. K. Lilburn for the use of his grounds and further generositv. In the evening an enjoyable dance was held in the woolsh-d adjoining the sports ground, excellent music being supplied by the -‘Blue Rhvthm” Orchestra. The results were as follows: 100 Yards.— C.
