“REMEMBER LAST NIGHT.” , All the ingredients of a first-class I murder mystery film are to be found in j“Remember Last Night,” which will I open a season at the Plaza Theatre to- ; day. A group of socially prominent •young people living on Long Island New York, attend a party given ir honour of two of them who have survived six months of married life. The audience thus is not surprised when or the morning which follows the majority of tho guests and the host and hostess are not very clear as to the night’s happenings. It comes as a surprise tc all but one of them that one of the wealthiest of the guests has been murdered over-night, anc when it is found that each and every one for various reasons might quite plausibly have committed the crime there is obvious embarrassment on al. sides. At this stage there enters the I law in the form of Edward Arnold, as | the proverbially astute detective | Searching questions have startling reac tions on those to whom they are put and finally there arc enough clues tc convict each member on circumstantia evidence at least. Threats written in blood, the flash of knives and many, other artifices arc used to heighten the suspense and when the climax conies the audience has been worked up to a rare pitch of excitement. The denouement is an unexpected one and rounds off a remarkably well-produced picture. Edward Arnold has a fine screen presence, which, when backed by the majesty of the law, produces terror in his victims. Robert Young and Const nee Cummings are other proved players in the cast and Sally Eilers, Robert Armstrong, Gregory Ratoff and Reginald Denny fill minor roles with distinc-
