BIG GATHERING NEXT SATURDAY ALL PR E I’A R ATIONIS Al AD E. The Alakirikiri (Sports Club is to hold its annual meeting at Upokongaro on Saturday, and all preparations have been made for a record day. Mr. Jim Todd has donated a solid silver cup for the winning owner of the maiden horse jump. This trophv when won twice by the same owner will become his or her property. One of (he features at. the sports gathering will be the catering, which, as usual, will be in the hands of the members of the Ladies’Auxiliary of the Wanganui Y.AI.C.A. A very attractive 'uncheon and afternoon tea at low prices will be available and the foodstuffs will be home made. The Upokongaro ground is easy of access and a large crowd will be expected if the weather is fine. The stake money has been increased and the programme is a very attractive one, including athletic events, horse events, novelty items and wood-chopping. The committee is a very energetic one and sets itself out. to cater for he public enjoyment. All that is needed .to ensure success is fine weather.
