LIGHTERAGE PLANT
URGE TO INCREASE IT ATTITUDE OF REFRIGERATING COMPANY Complaints that the lighterage plant at the port of Wanganui is inadequate have been forwarded to the Harbour Board by the Wanganui Woolbrokers’ Association. The board, at its meeting yesterday, had before it a reply from the New Zealand Refrigerating Company, which provides the plant The company pointed out that to provide such a plant as was suggested would mean that a portion of it would be idle for a great portion of each year. It suggested that the wool-brokers, instead of each promising their clients shipment on prompt date, they should spread their shipments over a longer period. After brief discussion the board decided to suggest that the woolbrokers, the company, and the board meet in conference to talk the matter over with a view to making tfie be t , rrangement possible.
