SATURDAY, MARCH 21 (1936) INVERCARGILL SHOWGROUNDS IMPORTANT SALE OF OLDESTABLISHED ROMNEY STUD FLOCK VX'RIGHT, STEPHENSON & CO., LTD., have received instructions from DONALD MACDONALD, ESQ., EDENDALE, to oiler for unreserved auction sale on the date and place above-named, the whole of his wellknown Stud Romney stock, comprising: 300 fe ’ rUD -ROMNEY EWES (1-shear and upwards). 1-SHEAR ROMNEY FLOCK °’ ) RAMS. 4 ROMNEY STUD RAMS. £()() ROMNEY EWE LaMBS. [(X) EOMNEY EAM fambs. This old-established Romney Stud was founded in 1906 and nas been maintained, by rigid culling and careful breeding, at a consistently high level. The foundation ewes were bred at Bainfield, and additions were made from the old-established Burnside and Birchwood flocks. At the Dispersal Sale of the Bainfield breeding flock in 1924 and of the hoggets in 1925, a further 325 ewes were added. It is apparent, therefore, since that date culling has been very heavy. Rams used have been bred at Bainfield and Castlerock and the flock to-day is almost entirely of the famous Waiorongomai blood. The Edendale Romneys are noted for their splendid heads, constitution, deep bodies and well carried out frames, while they are very free from britchincss, having been classed for many years by one of the best wool men in the South Island. These Romneys should do exceptionally well in the North Island, as they are certain to shift well. Commissions will be executed at the sale for buyers unable to be present and will be personally selected by Mr C. E. Robertson.
