IMPORTANT CHANGES ADOPTION OF NEW GUNS By Tti*craph—Pre«*» A*«ociation—CopyrigMl LONDON, March 12. In the House of Cc-minons, the Hon. A. Duff Cooper (Minister ol War) announced the adoption of au anti-tank rifle and small anti-tank machine-gun. Th-e former is not extremely heavy and the latter could be carried by cue man. The Government was satisfied that the gun was probably the best in the world. Eight cavalry divisions will be mechanised in addition to two which have undergone the process. The infantry brigader:. are being reorganised so that instead of fc-ur rifle battalions there will be three and one machinegun battalion. The former will have the new Bren gun, considered to be the best machine-gun available, also mortars and the anti-tank rifle. The machine-gun battalions will lie fully mechanised. The men will be carried and will be armed with the new antitank gun. Mr. Duff Cooper announced an improvement in the army and territorial conditions nf service.
