The attendance of parand the general public in the past has been very disappointing and considering the time devoted by the teachers and the training undertaken by the competitors, their efforts are worthy of a litle more interest being taken in these contests. The expeditious manner in which the numerous events are run off is a credit to the association, but they would like the general public to take more interest in their children’s pastimes. The admission is sixpence for adults and threepence for children, and refreshments and afternoon tea are obtainable on the ground.

ST. PATRICK’S ANNUAL DANCE Once again the youthful will revel in the spirit of joy, for March 17 will again find the Empire Hall a colourful haven when happy hearts, pretty frocks, dancing feet, and lilting musio will make Ireland’s day one of merriment. The famous Wanganui danct band leader, Mr. F. Stokes, with hit “Palais de Danse” Band will rendei tuneful music. This will be their first appearance in Marton, and they havt an excellent reputation in their home town. Confetti, streamers, and other attractions will all help .to make Iffiis popular date a glowing success. So will carefree hearts, to the throb of gentle music, pass away the happy hours of Saint Patrick’s night that in the memory of all is “evergreen.”
