DAMAGES AWARDED
FULL AMOUNT CLAIMED INJURIES through FALLING BOTTLES OF BEER [ Per Press Association. 1 CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 21. General damages amounting to £509, ’.he full amount claimed, were awarded to Joseph Edward Fussell aga-nst the Ashburton Club and Mutual Society of Arts in the Supreme Court, to-day. Fussell was also awarded £147 7s 6d special d-amagCjS, which amount had been agreed upon by counsel. the damages were claimed in respect of injuries received when a number of bottles of beer fell on Fussell on the club premises in November, 1934. It was plaintiff’s contention that' the bottles had been negligentlv stacked. Tho legal question of whether Fussell could sue the chib, of which, he himself was a. menihet\ was decided by the Court in his favour a few weeks ago.
