GAYER DRESS DESIGNS
NO MOURNING AT ASCOT KING’S ANNOUNCEMENT Received Feb. 21, 9.50 p.m. LONDON, Feb. 20. His Majesty announces that the public are not expected to wear mourning at Ascot, causing the dress designers to produce gayer fashions than had been planned. The decision, which does not apply to court circles, is understood to be the result of His Majesty’s visit to the textile section of the British Industries Fair, when he discussed with Lord Derby, officials and exhibitors, the effect of the court mourning on trade.
