A NEW FEDERATION x Arrangements are about completed to form a new federation up the Alain Trunk Line, the federation to be formed from institutes of the Wanganui Federation in that district, the distance - from the Wanganui section being too great to give complete satisfaction to these far-away institutes. The extent of the federation will be from Alangapurua to Ohingaiti, end the probable central meeting place Taihape. The formation meeting will be held at Taihape on March 3 with Mrs. Kelso present representing the Dominion executive and Air. J. Brine the Wanganui Federation. A name for the new federation will be chosen al this formation meeting and a committee and president elected. SIL VERHOPE On Wednesday last Airs. Beattie presided over a very large attendance of members of the Silvcrhope Women’s Institute in the Rata Hall. After the meeting had opened with the “smile song” and Creed, the members stood in silence in memory of the late King. After much discussion, it was decided to give the alternate meetings at Silverhope and Rata another year’s trial. Airs. Pryce sang two very muchappreciated songs during tea, after which Airs. Aidworth demonstrated the making of cot quilts from wool, for ' which she received a very hearty vote ■ of thanks. The winners of the competition, a bowl of autumn flowers, were: Aliss J. Aidworth 1, Airs. Aid worth 2, Airs. Doole 3. Alembers are reminded that nominations for the committee of 10 must reach the secretary not later than March 1, and potato weights must be handed in at the next meeting.
