MARTON

THE CIVIC THEATRE “HEART’S DESIRE” In addition to the public-bestowed title of “The World’s Greatest Living Tenor,” Richard Tauber surely has every claim to that of “The World’s Busiest Tenor” as well. During the production of “Blossom Time,” Tauber had the distinction of singing before Their Majesties the late King and the Queen of England, at the Royal Albert Hall, and despite the fact that he had been singing on the studio sets all day, his voice was as fresh as in the morning. “Heart’s Desire” will commence at the Civic Theatre to-night. It is a really brilliant* achievement, in the opinion of many critics, greater even than “Blossom Time.” The story is modern. It depicts Tauber in the role of a simple Viennese biergarten singer, who is “discovered” by a wealthy English girl who takes him to London and makes him a great and popular artist.
