In a brilliant finish Miss Edie Robinson (New South Wales) equalled the national record to win the Australian women’s 220 yards championship ' in 24 4-sspc. from Miss E. Wearne ■ (New South Wales). The pair flashed over the line together, the judges taking five minutes to determine the. winner. j\liss V. Cowan (Victoria) won the Australian women’s shot putt championship with the Australian record of 32ft. Ilin. The previous record was 31ft. Sjdin. WOMEN’S BROAD JUMP RECORD RECOGNISED [ Per Prti' s Association. J WELLINGTON, Jan. 16. A now Dominion record for the women’s broad jump approved by the Council of the N.Z.A.A.A. to-night was 17ft. l.{in, established by Aliss Doris L. Strachan, of the South Canterbury Sub-Centre at Temuka last year.
