BODY FOUND IN HARBOUR

At the inquest on Thomas Duggan, whose body was recovered from the harbour, the evidence of the landlady was that he said that he .was going to live in a bach but was leaving his property behind. Since .January 1, she said he appeared to have something on his mind, and could not sleep. Martin Grealick, a, fellow employee, said that he met deceased on the night of January 4. Deceased was unsettled and appeared to be getting over a drinking bout. Deceased refused to go to bed, and they roused J. Lavin, of Northland, and the three of them went along to Waterloo Quay. At Aotea Quay deceased said: ‘‘Are you coming to fish. Jim! 1 am,” and jumped into the water. He could not be seen after and was not heard to call out. He had a wife and son in Ireland, but had been in New Zealand for nine yea rs. Lavins’ evidence was that decreased’s main object in the walk was to get liquor.
