OBITUARY
MR. PHILIP NEWBURY. NEW YORK, Jan. 13. Mr. Philip Newbury died to-day, only a fortnight after the death of his wife. A New Y'ork cable received last month revealed that Mr. Newbury and Madame Spada, who were world-famous 30 years ago as concert singers, were living virtually destitute in a small flat in Brooklyn. Madame Spada was suffering from hemiplegia and painful complications. For many years illness had kept them both from following their profession. Madame Spada died on January 2.
