A blazing stick set fire to the fur of a cat sitting before the kitchen fire in a thatched cottage at Hempnall. Norfolk. The cat ran upstairs and jumped through an open window. The curtains caught fire from the cat and passed flame to the thatch, which at once burst into flames. The cottage was destroyed.
