SAFETY ON ROADS
A BRITISH CAMPAIGN USE OF GUARD RAILS [ British Official Wireless. ] Received Jan. 14. 6.20 p.m. RUGBY, Jan. 13. Tn continuation of a campaign for road safety, plans are under consideration by the Ministry of Transport and one of the East End of London Borough Councils for guard rails between, the footway and carriageway. The suggestion is to place rails along about six miles of pavement in one of the roads with the worst record of street Occidents with openings a 1 marked pedestrian crossings. At each crossing signal lights, actuated by a pedestrian desirous of getting to the other side of the street, would control the vehicular traffic there.
