TOUR IN OLD CAR
WANGANUI GIRLS’ VENTURE CHIEF TOURIST RESORTS OF N.I. VISITED During the present summer quite a number of young people have clubbed together and purchased old motor-cars in whiv.h to make holiday tours. Pro viding that the purchasers have ordinary luck such a holiday does not entail a heavy expenditure and a considerable amount of country can be seen within a short time. Three Wanganui young women purchased such a vehicle and although their friends held a pessimistic view of the car’s capabilities they made a succesisful holiday tour and visited some of the chief tourist resorts of the North Island. The party left Wanganui os the day before Chritmas Eve, and spent nights at New Plymouth, Waitoino, Cambridge, Tauranga, Rotorua, AVairakci, Taupo, and National Park and arrived bavk in Wanganui on DeccmbcT 31. On the following day the party made a trip to Wellington. Despite the pessimi-sitie attitude of their friends, one of whom was willing to wager that t<he ear would not. travel a greater distance than 300 miles, the three young women failed to experience any engine trouble and wore not even delayed with a puncture. The individual cost of the trip, including guide fees and other expenses, was £4 o < 1 d.
