Meteorological Office, Wellington, Tuesday, January 14, 4 p.m. General Situation.— A rather deep depression is crossing the North Auckland Peninsula. Forecast.—Winds: South-west to south-east becoming general by morning, strong to gale force on the area north of Cook Strait, but later decreasing gradually. Seas (N.Z. waters): Rough north of Farexvell f?pit and Kaikoura; elsewhere, slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate to strong southerly winds; seas rough in the northern portion, moderate in the central and southern. Weather: Fair in Westland and the far south; elsewhere cloudy to overcast with some rain, but improving to-morrow, except in the north-eastern portion of the North Island, where some further heavy falls are likely. Temperatures cool. Sunset to-day: 7.51 p.m. Sunrise to-morrow: 5.10 a.m.
