HUNTERVILLE

TOWN BOARD MEETING The monthly meeting of the Huntervine Town Board was held on Alonday night, Cr. IL A. Gordon presiding. Also present were Crs. F. IL Ching, E. H. Jones, R. A. Lyall and T. J. Taylor. Apologies for absence were received from Crs. J. B. Klue and L. J. Thompson. Foreman’s Report The foreman reported, as follows: Roads Alainteuaiice. —The roads that received attention during the month were Ungo, Kotukutuku, and Paraekaretu Streets. Water supply: Water in reservoir Kangitira Road 32 feet. , The mains have been flushed out and the filler is being washed out daily. , Two leaks in the main and one in a ■ connection were attended to. Sewerage: One blockage located and removed. The raiLs procured for sup- • ports to sewer over Pourewa Stream in Alilne Street have been put in where required. General: The usual seasonal work such as grass cutting, removing weeds where considered necessary and painting of curbs were 1 attended to during the month. A number of properties have been inspected for noxious weeds and notices to clear same have been served where necessary. 1 have still a number of properties to inspect and will do so as soon as convenient. Noxious weeds have been cut on the board’s property. Domain: T'hc grass on the playing area has been cut as required. It was necersnry to have, the mower overhauled and put in order, owing to it being very much out of repair. This has been done, and 1 a-m given to understand it, is now giving satisfaction. A letter was received from the .Railway Department asking that crossing rigns be painted.—To be attended to. Letter from the County Council rc noxious weeds hold over from last meeting.---Hold over until full meeting. Foes for dog registration were made the. same as last, year. The advertising of the dates for imposition for 10 per cp.it. penaity on rated. i\as icft to the clerk. It was decided that on application the water connection be made to the Union Bank property in Kangatira Road. Cr. Ching reported that, he had complaints about roses overhanging the footpath in ParavI karetu Street.—The resident to be ' asked to cut these back. A water con- ; nection at Airs. AlcAlloy’s property in Ungo Road is to be attended to. Finance.—Credit, balanc-e after last 1 meeting. £773 5s 6d; receipts during month, £l2l 15s lOd; paid during month. £42 10s sd; to night’s, payment,£49 2s 2d; credit, balance after to-night’s meeting, £BO6 8s 9d. Domain Board—At. the conclusion of the Town Board Meeting the members sat r.s a Domain Board. Air. Ching raid he had be-en told that the mower was worn out. TTe suggested that the lioard might, replace this with a. new one with the assistance of other clubs. He suggested that enquiries be made in regard to both horse and motor mowers. The cricket, club, he understood, would endeavour to raise some of the money required.. Air. Ching also referred to the water from the spillway at the children’s pool at the baths flowing on to the Domain. The chairman staled that this was to be attended to a<- soon as the baths committee could meet. The chairman stated that it had taken 22i hours to empty, clean and fill the baths. The water had been pumped from Glenmorven reservoir and the pump had maintained an 801 b pressure throughout. He stated that when this supply was on no water was being received from tire other eouree, the pressure from the Glenmorven supply pushing the other water right, back to' the filter and even through the filter. Mr. Ching stated that he considered the board members should be notified when the next filling was living made so that they could watch inc progres,- themselves. He thought the members should be interested to see the process. Air. Ching also reported that there had been complaints about bad language used at the baths and thir should be Stopped. The chairman said he also had had complaints, but a paragraph in the paper had evidently checked the offence, as he had heard no complaints since. Lnfortumitely, the buildings were being held up and everything was. at a standstill. He s,u< the only way Io stop the obscene language was to prosecute the offenders. general The bowling green has been very popular during the past few weeks, the fine weather being taken full advantage of. During tire week-end quite a number of the lads about tonn visited the greens and hitd their first game of bowls. They were surprised to find the game so intorcsting a" 1 exciting and as a result the chib has several, new- members.
