yHE Afaiylebone cricketers now in the Dominion have not left the New Zealand public long in doubt as to their capabilities a.s batsmen, ft is true that there may be a just cause or two for the home side’s poor showing by comparison, but the match is indicative that England, the “Mother of Cricket,” still has a field to draw upon to win back whatever glory may have faded from her cricket escutcheon in recent years. The tour of the M.C.C. side through Australia and New Zealand was partly inspired by a knowledge that England was seeking to re-strengthen her cricketing forces and, seemingly, that inspiration has been well founded.
