Meteorological Office, Wellington, Thursday, Jan. 13, 4 p.m. General Situation.—A disturbance has crossed the South Island and is over the Tasman. Forecast.—Winds: Moderate to strong south tu south-east south of New Plymouth and Napier; elsewhere northerlies and northerlies probably again extending later as far south as Cook Strait. Seas (New Zealand walers): Rough at times north of Kavvhia and Tauranga and in the Cook Strait area. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate fresh southerly winds in the northern portion; elsewhere south to south-east; seas moderate. Weather: Cloudy to overcast in places, misty or foggy rain probable in most districts, with some heavy falls in the North Island. improving later in the western and southern portions of the South Island.
