MAJESTIC THEATRE

“THE BISHOP MISBEHAVES.” Delightful light entertainment is provided in “The Bishop Misbehaves,” the film which heads the programme to have its final presentations at the Majestic Theatre to-day and to-night. The theme is a novel one and deals with the adventures of a bishop who gives vent to his passion for detective stories by trying his hand as an amateur sleuth. The story leads itself to innumerable difficulties and complications which go to form one of the finest vehicles with which Edmund Gwena and Maureen O’Sullivan have had the opportunity to display their talents. Norman Foster and Maureen O’Sullivan supply the romantic interest, while others in the cast include Lucille Watson and Dudley Digges. There is a wide selection of shorter pictures. “The Payoff.’’ With flashes from practically every branch of major sport embraced in. the fast-moving plot of “The Payoff,” the Warner Bros, picture, which comes to the Majestic Theatre to-morrow, bonafide stars of the sports fraternity were used us actors. Frank Murphy, former near-champ in the heavyweight division, who fought Williard, has an important part. A swift slugging match is staged between “Millionaire” Murphy and Charlie Massera, both active heavyweight. “Mushy” Callahan, former junior welterweight champion and Hollywood American Legion referee, not only was the studio property man, but also acted as an official of the screen battle. There is an allstar cast which includes James DunnClaire Dodd, Patricia Ellis. Alan Dinehart, Joseph Crehan, Frankie Darro, Frank Sheridan, Eddie Shubert, and Al Bill. Robert Florey directed.
