MOTOR CYCLING
RACES AT AWAPLNI NEW YEAR’S DAY. The annual motor-cycling race meeting of the Manawatu Mtor-Cycle Club will be held on the Awapuni Racecourse (by kind permission of the Manawatu Racing Club, of Palmerston North) to-morrow (Wednesday, January 1). There are 30 of the foremost motor cyclists of New Zealand competing and the star event of the day will be the New Zealand light-weight championship, open to machines up to 350 c.c., the first prize being £lO and cup valued at £5 ss, presented by Mr. Harry Mangham, the champion cyclist of New Zealand, second £5, 3rd. £2 and 4th., £l. Jn addition there are eight other events from 3 to 7 miles. The Awapuni Racecourse is one of the best in New Zealand for this class of motorcycling races and is a splendid ideal picnic locality. Buses will leave the square at intervals. The prices of admission are: —Adults 2s, children 6d.
