TAXI DRIVER CONVICTED

INTOXICATION CHARGE. [ Per Press Association. ] CHRISTCHURCH, Dee. 2. Described by himself as the oldest taxi driver in Christchurch, Phillip John Kelly, aged 61, was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence if called on within twelve months when he appeared before Mr. Levvey, S.M., in Court this morning on a charge of being intoxicated while in charge of a car. _ The magistrate declared that it was a great pity that Kelly, with 40 years of unblemished record as the holder of a licence of some sort or another, should have fallen from grace. As Kelly was now on sustenance he could not inflict a fine, but would cancel the licence for twelve months.
