JEWISH COLONY IN ECUADOR

Plan Under Discussion

A scheme to set up a Jewish colony iu Ecuador (South America) was outlined by Mr B. Hurwick, of Rotterdam, to the World Conference of Polish Jews Abroad in London. He did not reveal details or the plan, explaining that a committee was at present investigating it. But he did say that he could arrange for the colonisation in Ecuador of hundreds of Polish Jews. Delegates from 18 countries are discussing how best to assist 3,500,000 distressed Jews in Poland. Rabbi J. Lew (London) said: “For a Polish Jew to get a certificate from the British Government enabling him to enter Palestine is as big a gamble es getting a ticket in a sweepstake.”
