DRAWN GAME

ULSTER AND N.Z. , IRISH PACK DOMINATES ALL BLACKS FULLY TESTED [By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright] Received Dec. 1, 7.5 p.m. BELFAST, Nov. 30. The New Zealand and. Ulster Rugby fifteen drew at Belfast to-day, the score being 3 points all, the points being scored in the first half of th£ match. The game was played, in the presence of a crowd of 9000. The New Zealanders looked grim as they took the field after both teams had been presented to Lord Abercorn. They expected to be up against things as the heavy going suited the Ulstermen. They were also handicapped by the loss of I’age and Oliver owing to injuries. Tindill replaced the former and Mitchell replaced Oliver, Ball filling Mitchell’s place uu the wing. The All Blacks speedily tasted the Irish forward play. The Ulstermen, wheeling a scrum, forced the visitors back. The cold affected the handling and play was dull, with too many scrums, due to infringements by both sides. The advantage rather lay with the Ulster forwards, who were giving the visitors few chances. Eventually Tindill kicked over the full-back’s head and Hart scored. Gilbert made a poor attempt at goal.—New Zealand 3, Ulster 0. The Ulster forwards retorted by carrying play to the New Zealanders’ line in vigorous Irish fashion. They kept up the pressure and Gunn scored. Alexander missed the goal.—New Zealand 3, Ulster 3. At half-time the score was unaltered. The Ulstermen played with great devil in the second half, and the New Zealanders were often obliged to find the line. Gilbert missed an easy penalty. Both teams fought strenuously to gain the lead, but the Ulster forwards were repeatedly dominant, hammering away at the All Black line. Toward the end Tindill attempted to drop a goal. The ball apparently went over the bar but the goal was not awarded. It appears that an Ulsterman touched the ball in its flight. SECRET OF 1905 HOW WALES SCORED TRY. FAMOUS INCIDENT RECALLED. Received Dee 1, 7.5 p.m. LONDON, Nov. 30. Page yesterday afternoon had a recurrence of his leg trouble and was medically treated. Therefore he did not play against Ulster. The Daily Herald says: A 30-year-old secret will be revealed in an Empire-wide broadcast from Cardiff on the eve of the AU Blacks’ match against Wales. Old. Welsh Internationals will recall how Wales scored the winning try against New Zealand in 1905 by a reverse pass, disclosing that the manoeuvre was practised behind locked gates before the game, Gwynn Nicholls arranging that it should be used “when a suitable scrum takes place near the All Blacks’ line.”
