ATHLETIC CLUB Another successful sports meeting was held on Wednesday evening, November 27. The mild weather drew a good attendance of spectators who were generous in their applause uf the very line finishes. At the cluse of the programme two men, Battling Sinclair (from the Kohi Valley) and Tiger Holmes (from Ngutuwera Hills) entertained the crowd to a wrestling exhibitiofti. The fight, after three thrilling rounds, ended in a draw, one fall each. Air Boshcr capably refereed. PERSONAL Miss K. O’Donnell, Manaia. is spending the week-end in Waverley. WAVERLEY SCHOOL FAREWELL TO DENTAL On Fiiday, November 29, the children of the Waverley School assembled to farewell Miss M. Small, the dental nurse, who is leaving to be married. Mr Fiahertv said a few words of appreciation of the excellent work done by Miss Small during the time she has been in Waverley. Rev. S. IL Gardiner then expressed the regret of the children, the school committee and the dental committee that Miss Small was leaving Waverley. He wished her every happiness for future years. Two little girls, Ida Hodge and BarHunt, then presented Miss Small with a beautiful pyrex casserole and a crystal vase from the children. In a charming little speech, Miss Small thanked the children very muK’h. The whole school then sang “For She’s a Jollv Good Fellow.” Miss Small will be replaced by Miss Collie, who will relieve in Patea.
