WEEKLY REVIEW. The Farmers’ Co-operative Organisation Society of New Zealand Limited, in their weekly review of the stock markets, state that business has been all that quotations would allow. Ensilage making and shearing operations everywhere have naturally created somewhat of a lull in these markets and affected attendances at most sales. Interest during the week has centred on the result that the policy of the new Government will have on future stock markets. The Auckland wool sale held in the early part of the week showed a very substantial rise un values ruling at this period last year, this result being very pleasing to everyone. Dairy produce values have continued to show much fluctuation during the. week, this being difficult to account for. However, as far as butter is concerned, it appears that more competition will be met in the future from the manufacture of the same article in the Old Country and an easing in values is to be expected. A pleasing feature of this market, however, with the lowering of the retail price, has been very much increased consumption offsetting to a certain extent the increased •amount coining on to the English market. ' Ptrt Stock. Values of all classes of fat stock remain on a par with these ruling in our last report. Quotations at the moment in the fat ewe section arc difficult enough to procure, but incieased numbers are assured at an early date. Values of shorn fat ewes range from 15s 6d to 16s fid, with fat wethers at from 23s fid to 255. Quotations of fat cattle are slightly more plentiful, with increased interest being shown in sales of fat cows ex dairy, this having an effect on the market fop the better bred cattle. Quotations of best prime Cat cows range from £fi 10s to £7, best prime fat heifers from £0 Jss to £7 ss. Store Stock.

Quotations of store sheep are still some of a limited nature, with interest being shown in practically all sections. Ewes with lambs at foot are eagerly sought after, sales during the week including 400 5-year ewes with 100 per cent b.f. lambs at 335, IGO sound mouth ewes with 150 per cent. b.f. lambs at foot al 365, and 100 5-year ewes with b.f. lambs at foot at 37s fid. Quotations of 2-toofh ewes off the shears are coining on to the market in increasing numbers at values ranging from 30s to 32s for January delivery. Quotations of two-tooth wethers eff the shears are distinctly limited, with values ranging from 21s to 21s fid. Renewed activity is being shown in all quotations of store cattle, the supply being limited. Hales during the week include 113 good 3-year old P.A. heifers at £5 4s, and 50 P.A. and Shorthorn cows at £4 ss. A firm market is likely to rule for this class of cattle for some time. Due to the lateness of the season, tie heifer market is almost closed. Some enquiry is being shown for the Jersey yearling heifer, sales during the week including two trucks at £3 7s 6d to an outside buyer, quotations of really top cattle still being difficult to pro cure. , Yard Sales.

Our sales at all centres have shown an easing in the number of cattle being yarded, due, as reported, to shearing and ensilage operations in most districts. At our Opunake sale on Monday, November 25, a medium yarding came forward and a brisk sale in all sections resulted. Competition among works’ buyers was keen for heavy cows.
