POWER HOUSE MISHAP MELBOURNE IN DARKNESS. MELBOURNE, Nov. 28. An almost complete disorganisation <•:’ Melbourne’s social and business activities was caused last night by an explosion at the Melbourne Electricity Supply Company's sub-power station. The city proper and parts of the suburb- were plunged into darkne?-. Homes, hospitals, theatres, broadcast ing stations, dance halls, cafes, clubs, ami night schools were all without light ami power. A major operation at Melbourne Hospital was continued in gas light. Two babies were born in candle light at a women’s hospital. With a deep roar an oil switch at the power house blew out. shattering two large iron framed windows. No one was injured.
