Tinker Returns.

The Auckland rider A. Tinker returned to Auckland by the Monowai cm Monday. He said that the Takanini trainer P. E. Pope would probaply return on the next trip of the Wan ganella. Gay Blonde and Gay Sheik have found new quarters in Australia, and the future of Gay Sheila, Gay Brunette and Gay Lot is indefinite. Walk-iu Start. It is most unusual for two-year-olds to be sent off in a race to a walk-in start, but this was the dispatch iu the Maromaku Juvenile, writes “Early Bird.” Whatever the old hands might have thought about it the race provided the most stirring finish of the day. Marjory Daw, who has not done much racing, was the first to break a rather good line. She was being hunted along two lengths clear of Surella and Gay Chief at the home turn, and under pressure all the way up the straight she managed to hang on to a margin that was decreasing with every stride. It was a thrilling struggle and the three youngsters never flinched under punishment. The winner is by defunct Chief Buler from Doree, so that she is a full-sister to Princess Doreen. Surella made his best showing to date and he may fulfil the expectations given when he led home the parade of colts at Ellerslie three months ago. Gay Chief is racing unluckily, but he lacks early brilliance. Useful Maiden. In losing his maiden status by winning the novice event at Levin, Shy showed considerable improvement on his recent form, but his win was fully expected in some quarters. Prior to Saturday Shy had started only twice, once last season and once at Masterton last month, when he finished fourth. He is a four-year-old gelding by Valkyrian from Stage Fright and is raced* by the Trentham trainer R. W. A, Lewis. RACING FIXTURES November 30—Ashburton C.R.C. Nov.’ 30, Dec. 2 —Feilding J.C.
