“WORKING” IN COMFORT
No longer does the beggar in England tramp the country on foot. He goes about in a motor-car! At Nottingham recently five men giving addresses in and near London were charged with begging. Superintendent Gregory stated that the men had a car and drove round the country begging at fairs. Two of them were cripples. Altogether, in their -possession, was over £3. When the police approached them for begging they got into their car and 'drove away, but were overtaken. On condition that the men left the city, the cases ’were adjourned for a month.
