A depression has reached ■astern Australia, but is making only slow progress eastward; Forecast.—Winds: Light to fresh south-westerlies prevailing at first, •ut tending northerly later over the South Island. Seas (New Zeaand waters i; Rough between Cape Palliser and East Cape and a coniderable southerly swell generally south of East Cape; otherwise mod rate. Eastern Tasman; Moderate south-west to westerly winds, later ending northerly; seas moderate. Weather: Fair to fine temperatures gradually becoming milder. The New Zealand Friends’ School St.’ John’s Hill, report for 24 lours ending 6 p.ni. yesterday: Bright sunshine, 9 hours 40 minutes, fainfall, .02 inches. Shade temperature: Maximum, 62 deg.
