BOY SCOUTS
THE GONVILLE TROOP. A well-attended open air parade was held at the S.M.’s residence, 26 King’s Avenue, in the evening of 20tu inst The ceremony of investment took place, when six boys, having passed the necesary Tenderfoot tests, were invested. The troop is very grateful tu Chaplain Fraser, who paid the troop a visit. 2.1 r. Fraser was w’elcomed by the S.M., and given a rousing welcome by the boys. The chaplain replied, fittingly expresisng in his inimitable Maori way how pleased he was to be of service to a troop of Pakeha Scouts. Mr. Fraser then proceeded very nationtly to teach the boys the popular Maori chant “Ka mate, Ka mate, Ka-ora, Ka-ora.” Mr. Fraser then obliged the boys by singing a Maori song. Games followed, the parade conclud ing with the Scout’s promise.
