SEVERE THUNDERSTORM
MID-CANTERBURY VISfTATION SEVERAL SHEEP KILLED [ Per Press Association. ] ASHBURTON, Nov. 25. Four owes and four lambs were killed at Wheatstone during a thunderstorm in. the coastal district yesterday. The animals were somewhat mutilated, but did not have the appearance of being burnt. The ground fc-r about ten cquare yards was cut up as if pigs had been rooting. Hail accompanied the storm, and some stones were as big as pigeons’ eggs. The tops of young c-ats were cut off and peas threshed out. Fruit trees were stripped and gardens generally suffered. In other coastal areas fruit trees were stripped and crops flattened, but not severely damaged.
