BUT HRRE ARE WHAT SOME OTHER LABOUR MEN SAY: Mr Peter Fraser (after speaking sympathetically of the Russian Communistic State) - “THE LABOUR MOVEMENT IN NEW ZEALAND IS PART AND PARCEL OF THE SAME MOVEMENT THROUGHOUT THE WORLD.” “THE CONQUEST OF TITS POWER OF THE STATE IS THE OBJECTIVE . . . AFTER HE CONQUEST OF POLITICAL POWER UNIONISM COMES ACTUALLY TO FUNCTION ON A COMMUNIST BASIS.” Mr R. Semplo: “AN ARMY AT THE COMMAND OF A LABOUR GOVERNMENT TO ENFORCE LAWS WHICH WOULD TAKE THE PROPERTY OF THE PRESENT OWNERS FROM THEM—A CLASS ARMY TO CONFISCATE PROPERTY BY FORCE.” Mr W. E. Parry: “WHEN LABOUR COMES INTO FORCE . . IT WOULD REQUIRE ALL THE POWER AT THE COM MAND OF THE STATE TO ENFORCE ITS LEGISLATION . . SUCH A FORCE WOULD BE NECESSARY WHEN A LABOUR GOVERNMENT COMES INTO POWER.” Mr P. C. Webb: “A SYSTEM OF SOCIALISM MUST BE ESTABLISHED.” Mr H. T. Armstrong: “LET US BE UP AND DOING WITH A FAITH THAT KNOWS NO DEFEAT UNTIL. SOCIAL OWNERSHIP AIND CONTROL OF THE MEANS OF LIFE ARE OBTAINED.” Mr Ormond Wilson- “THE LABOUR PARTY’S ULTIMATE GOAL IS SOCIALISM.” What is the use of talking about “guaranteed prices” and such clap-trap when the REAL policy of Labour is Socialism? Where is the man who would even try to develop his affairs with such a smash-and-grab party in power! Is it not obvious that we would be in a state of economic wreck within a few weeks? Business people and farmers would redu’ce their staffs; people would rush to the Post Office .Savings Bank and it would be unable to pay out within a week or so; jineinployment would reach a phenomenal height and we would be in a mess that would take years of hardship and sacrifice to put right.
